4 Properties of Insulating Panels for Roofs and Ceilings

All expanded polystyrene (EPS) panels used for insulating roofs and ceilings should provide unique properties that keep the surface and core safe and protected against damaging internal and external factors.

Isowall manufactures the Isolam range of insulating panels for roofs, ceilings and walls according to strict quality, safety, and environmental guidelines.

1. Effective Thermal Insulation

Ceiling panels are specifically designed to fit under existing roofing to maintain an energy-efficient and temperature-controlled space and prevent heat from escaping through the roof. Aside from under roofing, panels can also be used as side cladding insulation material.

Isolam panels’ thermal resistance ranges from 1.1 for 40mm panels to 2.0 for 75mm panels, based on the density and thickness of the panels. The panels have a maximum working temperature threshold of 80°C!

2. Fire Retardant Properties

One of the main properties of insulated panels is their resistance to fire. Fire retardant EPS sheets provide excellent fire repellent properties for a variety of industrial and commercial applications.

Isolam ceiling panels consist of our Isolite Fire Retardant EPS sheets laminated at high temperature with a PVC layer foil on one side of the panel. Isolam is classified as a class B/B1/B2/H.

Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) manufactured by the Isowall Group is fast becoming recognized as the insulation material of choice by specifiers of “Bills of Quantities”. This comes largely as a result of our technical knowledge backed up by years of experience in the building and construction industry.

3. Moisture and chemical repellent

Ceiling panels need to stay dry for effective insulation and keep their strength and durability even in damp, water and moisture conditions, as well as in the case of mould and bacteria.

Isolam panels are non-hygroscopic and not affected by moisture, mould or fungi. The EPS has no nutrient value for insects, birds or vermin, remaining effective as an insulant.

4. Safe, non-toxic and recyclable

Isolam panels are non-toxic, safe and maintenance-free. This makes the panels 100% safe and ideal for use in hygienic environments such as food or medicine production. Our EPS panels, including Isolam, are 100% recyclable. Scraps can be reused to produce alternative products. The disposal of EPS material is safe for the environment.

Isolam insulating panels are ideal for insulating roofs, ceilings and walls. The panels come in thicknesses from 30mm to 125mm and various lengths, and two different moulding patterns with standard colours being white and marble.
