Over the past ten years, Isolam ceiling boards have become popular specification for thermal insulation applications in ceilings. In this blog, we look at a few less-known facts about our EPS ceiling boards.
1. Easy installation method for best results
Isolam is a unique ceiling system, developed for ease of installation for contractors, specifiers and do-it-yourself customers. Easy to install and remove, it firmly holds the panels in place in the suspended ceiling. The panels consist of Isolite fire-retardant EPS sheets laminated on one face with a fire-retardant PVC skin. The framework provides a permanent maintenance-free internal surface once installed, which is not affected by bacteria, mould or fungi.
2. Unique framework and clipping system
The Isolam ceiling system has an exclusive framework comprising an aluminium T-section and a PVC T-section that come together to form an H-section. The aluminium is used as a frame and the PVC as a clip-on finish on the surface. There is also a unique hold-down clip in suspended ceilings that can be used with the standard clipping system.
3. Clean and completely washable surface
Isolam contains no toxic glue and gases in its production and installation phases. The EPS boards provide a clean surface that is completely washable without any structural damage. It is highly recommended for green building projects and ideal for installation in hygienic and sanitary buildings and food-processing areas.
4. Tested and approved independently
Isolam is a tested product that complies with SANS 10400-XA. It has B/B1/2/H (USP) classification for no flame spread in horizontal applications. Isolam may be used in industrial and commercial buildings as an under-roof and side cladding insulation material, at a maximum working temperature of 80°.
Isolam insulating panels are ideal for insulating roofs, ceilings and walls. The panels come in thicknesses from 30mm to 120mm and various lengths, and two different moulding patterns with standard colours being white and marble.
