Expanded polypropylene foam has a unique range of properties suitable for various industries. These include but are not limited to thermal insulation, energy and shock absorption, and water resistance. Here are the key features we love most about EPP.
- EPP is highly versatile
EPP is a highly versatile bead foam available in a wide range of densities, grades and even colours! It is used for different applications, depending on the various density grades available. The grading is based on specific requirements and purpose of the final product.
For example, in the automotive industry, high-density EPP grades with superior strength and insulation are recommended to maintain energy management. The EPP foam is extensively applied for safety purposes and impact resistance, like seating and bumpers, and is usually coloured black. By contrast, lower-density EPP grade is more suitable for packaging applications and often provided in a white colour unless otherwise specified.
Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) manufactured by the Isowall Group is fast becoming recognized as the insulation material of choice by specifiers of “Bills of Quantities”. This comes largely as a result of our technical knowledge backed up by years of experience in the building and construction industry.
- EPP is an excellent insulator
Expanded polypropylene is a great thermal insulator, energy absorber and acoustic insulator, particularly in high-density grade. EPP is highly porous, and the more air space is inserted around the beads, the more lightweight the foam becomes, and the better the acoustic insulation.
Its excellent strength-to-weight ratio and thermal insulation properties are ideal for the packaging industry and other applications where insulation is needed, such as cooler boxes.
- EPP is hygienic and resistant
EPP’s inert and non-toxic structure lends it to various applications requiring either stable hygiene or chemical resistance. For example, EPP can be used in the food and pharma industries because it is strongly resistant to water, chemicals, microbes, fungi and insects.
The EPP foam also remains intact when in contact with water, oils, petrol, gasoline, and common acids, which is a definite advantage in the automotive industry.
Isowall manufactures Isolite EPP from the highest quality expanded polypropylene material available for the automotive, packaging and HVAC industries.
We have a toolroom to assist with the manufacture of moulds, and a JSP ARPRO approved moulder. Products moulded from ARPRO® are remarkably durable, lightweight, and recyclable.
